Barbara Anderson’s Biography
Barb Anderson brings 20 years of expertise in financial management, strategy setting and implementation, business development, general management and executive leadership to her position as chief financial officer at TO2015.
Barb brings 20 years of expertise in financial management, strategy setting and implementation, business development, general management and executive leadership to her position as chief financial officer at TO2015 PanAm Games. From major multinationals to early-stage entrepreneurial businesses, her career has included senior leadership roles in a range of organizations, many of which were undergoing significant change or moving to the next level of effectiveness. Anderson spent a number of years in the food service industry, first with Pepsico Food Service in finance and information technology roles, and then as director, business strategy and general manager of one of Cara Operations Limited’s business units where she managed the operations, training and profitability of over 280 restaurants.
From there, she moved on to Bell Canada’s newly created subsidiary, Progistix-Solutions Inc., where she led a number of profit-enhancing initiatives, developed the company’s market positioning and implemented its initial sales strategy.
Barbara Anderson’s expertise in ensuring process effectiveness and establishing financial planning and analytical frameworks led her to her role as senior vice-president and chief financial offer at News Marketing Canada, where she enhanced margin performance through restructuring operations deployment and with innovative pricing strategies. Prior to joining TO2015 PanAm Games, Anderson served as chief financial officer at the non-profit charity MaRS Discovery District, where, through rigorous treasury management, she succeeded in generating significant cash from debt management and accounts receivable collections. To deliver the Games on time and on budget, Anderson will be busy building strong financial teams in finance, legal, procurement, information technology and risk management, implementing financial and information management systems and processes and establishing performance measurement frameworks for the TO2015 PanAm Games.
An MBA graduate of the Rotman School of Business, University of Toronto, she is also a chartered accountant (Ontario) and holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of British Columbia. In her spare time, Anderson volunteers in Bishop’s University’s mentorship program and is a land steward for the Bruce Trail Association.
